FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MASTANMUSIC'S NOVEMBER LIVE PODCAST RECORDING CONTINUES, NOVEMBER 7TH AT KELLY'S OLYMPIAN WITH LOTUS ISLE, THE DON OF DIVISION STREET, AND THE REDEEMED
MastanMusic's November live podcast recording is November 7th at Kelly's Olympian, featuring Lotus Isle, The Don of Division St., and The Redeemed. Tickets are $6.00 at the door. Doors are at 8pm, show starts at 9pm.
THE BANDS:
Lotus Isle - Fronted by Matt Brown (co-front man for alt. country rockers Baseboard Heaters), Lotus Isle is Portland, Oregon's latest "super group", featuring two-thirds of Amelia with Scott Weddle on guitar and Jesse Emerson on bass, as well as The Don of Division Street Matt Cadenelli on drums (Cadenelli also drums for Fernando, among others), Michael Jodell Hessling on backing vocals, and Keith Westmoreland on guitar. Delivering melodic, yet still introspective indie-rock, Lotus Isle keeps songs personal and intimate while still wrapping the songs in rich melodies and harmonies.
MySpace page: http://www.myspace.com/lotusisle
The Don of Division Street - Also known as Matt Cadenelli, one of the go-to drummers in Portland (Cadenelli drums for Fernando and Lotus Isle, among others), The Don of Division Street delivers Americana-soaked pop songs with heart, integrity, and plenty of wisdom. His live songs are both intimate and playful, drawing you in to his world of melody and intrigue, as the drummer-turned-front man takes the mic and the audience is all the better for it.
Myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/donofdivisionst
The Redeemed - Another band made up of members who have impressive resumes of Northwest notable bands, including front man Steve Lockwood, who fronted Haymaker and Pacific Wonderland in the 90s, and including members who have played in the New Wave Hookers, The Texacutioners, Oblivian Seekrs, The Blasters, and Junior Brown. The Redeemed deliver rockabilly and rock-influenced country and roots music tinged with a blues flavor.

Jeremy's Surgery Went Great!
Jeremy Wilson would like to announce that the heart surgery that he had to go through September 17th went without a hitch and that he is recovering 110%. He says, "A year ago I was diagnosed with a heart condition that required surgery. I was deeply in debt from an uninsured hospital stay and I felt overwhelmed and a bit lost as to what I was going to do. From the first person I told onward came help from near and far and family, friends, fans, community activists, incredible doctors, nurses and the incredible staff at Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland, bands! bands! bands! and people I don't even know pulled together and spontaneously and incredibly came to my rescue. I am overwhelmed with gratitude and I am deeply humbled by everyones support and generosity. With your support I went on an educational, and sometimes scary journey, and was able to get the help I needed. I am now getting back on my feet, because of your help. WOW! I am completely inspired by everything I have gone through in experiencing all of the wonderful folks that helped me through this. POWER TO THE PEOPLE!"
Rare Pictures Of The Watchmen Posted On The Internet
These pictures are of Jeremy Wilson's first band The Watchmen taken by Wendy Johnson out at the Lovre Family Farm in Central Howell Oregon in 1982 or 1983.
The Watchmen new hundreds of cool 50s, 60s songs and some alternative underground artists covers by then obscure acts like Elvis Costello, Squeeze, Violent Femmes and others. They also played many original tunes including Jeremy's first song he ever wrote called "Rebel Truce".
Pictured in the second picture from left to right are Eric Lovre (guitar vocals) Jim Talstra (drums) Tim King (bass) Jeremy Wilson (guitar, vocals.)
Jeremy Wilson, Eric Lovre and Jim Talstra went on to form the well known Dharma Bums just a few years later.
These photos were posted by Tim King on his MySpace site. Go there and see a Perfect Circle sticker from Jeremy's second band w/ John Moen (drums/vocals) Patrick Gundran (guitar/keys) Ric Johnston (bass/vocals) and JW (vocals/guitar) - the earlier formation of his 90's band Pilot.

PORTLAND, OREGON-BASED SILVERHAWK CELEBRATE RELEASE OF SOPHOMORE FULL-LENGTH, "HANGOVER BICYCLE RIDE" (MASTAN MUSIC), MAY 9th AT WHITE EAGLE
MySpace link: http://www.myspace.com/silverhawkband
Portland, Oregon-based psychedelic-Americana/rock ‘n’ roll outfit Silverhawk (fronted by brothers Sam and John Densmore) celebrate the release of their sophomore full-length, "Hangover Bicycle Ride" May 9th at White Eagle.
Also on the bill is Dan Jones and The Squids. Show starts at 9pm sharp. Cover is $5.00.
Three years in the making, "Hangover Bicycle Ride" represents a new phase in the brothers’ collaboration, which is especially apparent in their blending of studio trickery, wry humor, and the warmth of early rockabilly and classic rock influences (i.e Lee Hazlewood and T. Rex).
Produced by co-front man Sam Densmore, who has worked with other Northwest favorites includes Dry County Crooks and High Violets, "Hangover Bicycle" follows up on Silverhawk’s debut, "Westward" (Blue Eyed Crow), which All Music Guide proclaimed, "winners like ‘Fools, Love, Gold’ and ‘Fancy Bird.’ If those tracks recall Cracker at its peak, the disc achieves lift off with the Jonathan Richman-like charmer ‘Rocket to Space.’"
Recorded, mixed, and mastered at Jeremy Wilson’s (Dharma Bums, Pilot) MastanMusic Studio, Wilson later signed the band to a label deal, marking Silverhawk as the first release on the MastanMusic Label.
"Hangover Bicycle Ride" is just that, a soundtrack to a Sunday morning stroll through the city, sweating out the alcohol and excess from the previous night’s debauchery, while twang-flavored, pop-driven, psychedelic sounds consume your head and make you see (and feel) the warmth of the sun.
Beginning in 1992 as a folk duo from Coos Bay, Oregon, The Densmore Bros. released 3 full-length cassettes, 4 full-length CDs, 1 EP, and multiple singles. For most of the 90s they were based in Olympia, Washington and became known for the tribal no-wave jams under band names Slow Children and Frequency db. Over 1,000 shows on the West Coast with bands such as Frank Black, Screaming Trees, The Posies, and Richmond Fontaine inform their charismatic stage presence.
The live show at the White Eagle will consist of the Densmore Brothers trading off on guitar, bass, and lead vocal duties, with Anthony Cotham on keyboards/backing vocals and Rob Allison (Two Ton Boa, Freq. db) on drums and backing vocals.
The Dry County Crooks Record release party scheduled for Saturday May 17th at Dantes at 1 SW 3rd Avenue & Burnside in Portland, Or. The new CD "When Hearts Break" will be available at the show for the first time. But you can be the first to buy the CD NOW available exclusively through the MastanMusic website before May 17th. The CD won;t be available in stores until June! Order your CD NOW. Be sure to check out The Dry County Crooks Tour Schedule to find out when they'll be in your town. PORTLAND, OREGON'S OUTLAW COUNTRY/ROCK OUTFIT, THE DRY COUNTY CROOKS ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM, "WHEN HEARTS BREAK" (MASTAN MUSIC) AND CD RELEASE SHOW, MAY 17TH AT DANTE'S WITH MICHAEL DEAN DAMRON & THEE LOYAL BASTARDS, DRUNKEN PRAYER
MySpace page: http://www.myspace.com/drycountycrooks
Portland, Oregon's outlaw/country-rock outfit The Dry County Crooks - Vinny D. (vocals, guitar, sax), Paul Becker (guitar), Johnny B. (bass, vocals), and Cheo Larcombe (drums) - will celebrate the release of their third full-length, and first for Jeremy Wilson's Mastan Music Label, "When Hearts Break", on May 17th at Dante's.
Also on the bill are Michael Dean Damron & Thee Loyal Bastards and Drunken Prayer. Cover is $7.00 advance via TicketsWest and $8.00 at the door. Show starts at 9:30pm.
Pulling from the songbook of the working class, "When Hearts Break" delivers heartfelt messages of faith, love, struggle, and strife, led by front man Vinny D.'s tender, yet gruff voice, the sound of blue collar emotions and stark reality are vivid here.
Influenced by Johnny Cash, Social Distortion, The Supersuckers, Willie Nelson, The Cramps, and others, The Dry County Crooks have played over 300 shows in the western states, sharing bills with their influences, and turning heads at every concert hall, bar, and truck stop they've walked into.
In 2003, The Dry County Crooks released their debut full-length, "The One That Got Away" on the band's own Blue Collar Heart Music. Following in 2005 with "Wrong Side Of The Tracks" (also on Blue Collar Heart Music), they continued spreading the gospel of their country rock. Playing to sold-out shows opening for others and their own headlining gigs in areas from Zig Zag, Oregon to various small towns throughout Oregon, Washington, and California.
And while the band has created a niche for themselves in small towns hungry for working-class rock and cheap whiskey, they've also gained notoriety and acclaim in their hometown market of Portland, Oregon and the biggest market to the north, Seattle, Washington.
"When Hearts Break" is sure to further their warm reception in all these markets and with all of their fans, as well as help forge ahead and create new fans for them.
Tony Smiley is also ramping up his playing schedule with gigs booked in California. Check out the Tony Smiley MySpace Page for complete tour dates this spring. COOS BAY- Rocking out in their start-up town, a band now based out of Portland kicks off their first album's northwest tour showing a little love for Coos Bay on Easter with a benefit concert.
Silverhawk's newly released album 'Hangover Bicycle Ride' is about 15 songs lead singer Sam Densmore says is definitely rock and roll.
Rockers of all ages turned out for the Sunday concert at the Broadway Rock Venue to support the Coos Bay-rooted band and the Coos County animal shelter with donations from dog food to flea medications.
Densmore says, "We are an animal band, we're Silverhawk, so we want to help the animals."
Three of the band members are from Coos Bay, and they felt it was fitting to celebrate a momentous time in their career where it originated.
"This is going to be our 16th anniversary show at the Broadway Rock Hall. It used to be called the On-Broadway theatre and that was the venue where John and I actually started playing together as a folk duo in that exact room."
Silverhawk's latest cd is available now at Off the Record in North Bend.

Jared Mees New CD Recorded at MastanMusic Studio

The ever prolific and deep pop-ster lyricist Jared Mees just completed tracking his new CD with producer Jeremy here at the studio. Nearly a solid month of intense recording sessions found the two recording an almost all acoustic based band and lots of viola, violin and cello. JW's good pal Ezra Holbrook jammed on drums and a group of 11 friends came in to do crazy background singing.
Both Jared and Jeremy are blurry eyed and a little battered from the intense schedule, but what they got musically was worth every moment of hard work. When we have more time to write about this session we will.

Amber Gentry [b. June 6th 1992] was raised in Portland, Oregon and is a 15 years old Sophomore at Metropolitan learning Center. Amber is in the fight of her life right now. She has been in and out of OHSU's Dornbeckers Childrens Hospital since December 26th. On January 8th she went through a series of tests to reveal the source of her ongoing hip pain. After two misdiagnosis, it was discovered that she has a large tumor growing out of her pelvis that has eaten away 1/2 of her pelvic bone and consumed one of her ovaries. On January 14th the oncologist gave her family the news that she has Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare form of cancer that originates from the bone and accounts for less than 2% of all childhood cancers. After starting Chemotherapy, their physicians decided to do a second biopsy on yet unidentified nodules in her lungs, which were soon determined to be evidence that the Ewings had metastasized. Amber will go through 6 months of Chemotherapy. She's looking at about a year and a half of fighting this.
The March 15th Benefit Concert will provide a well needed financial reprieve for her family while the negotiate the emotional anguish experienced by all families who have the misfortune of battling cancer.
Additionally, we are teaming up our Benefit Concert with the 10th Annual Shamrock Run, which takes place the following morning on March 16th. The Shamrock Run is a yearly fundraiser for Dornbeckers Childrens Hospital. We encourage everyone to look at this weekend, beginning Saturday night with Amber's Benefit and then following with the Shamrock Run on Sunday, as an opportunity to support the children in our community who are fighting for their lives. Those people registered for the Shamrock Run will receive a discounted ticket ($5) to our event.
